After spending a couple of years working in food processing and Innovation management across multiple industries in Europe and Africa. I saw firsthand the need to improve the efficiency of operations in the sourcing of commodities. The reality had dawned on me early on in my career that salient issues such as farmer poverty, equitability and the sustainable sourcing of commodities could not be solved by quick fixes or a social approach, it would require innovative business solutions. Particularly in a shape and form that would be beneficial for all players along the value chain. Some examples include the adoption of technology early on in the cultivation and sourcing process, adequate education and a diversification from solely exporting to local processing. Solutions like these would, among others, do away with problems like farmer poverty and make traceability more efficient in the long run. They would also ensure that consumers and end users constantly have access to the needed commodities and products at the required quality and consistency. It is definitely a challenging but interesting journey and you can partner with us as we proffer practical solutions to these issues that would benefit all players.
